ABSTRACT
As the world economy grows worldwide, having efficient and reliable transportation infrastructures has become a necessity for fast-developing countries like Viet Nam. As a matter of fact, the increasing aggressiveness and number of vehicles to support such development, especially in a hot tropical climate like in Viet Nam, led to deep and fast structural deterioration of Transport Infrastructures that have been characterized by two main distress modes: permanent deformation and fatigue cracking.
The trend worldwide tends to substitute soft binders with harder grades, more adapted to sustain heavy traffic and high service temperatures.
This paper focuses on the presentation of features and benefits of using 40/50 through case studies from two heavy-duty highway projects in Vietnam.
