WATERCON® - High-performance water-reactive cold mix asphalt for emergency road surface repairs under rainstorm conditions

Although Super Typhoon Yagi has passed, the rainy and humid weather in Northern Vietnam continues, greatly affecting residents' lives and transporting goods.

 

You may not know, Watercon® is a high-performance water-reactive storable cold mix asphalt of ADCo that reacts with water to develop strength. It consists of aggregate and a special emulsion binder developed by ADCo. When Watercon® comes into contact with water, it immediately reacts and forms high mechanical strength for emergency road repairs in harsh conditions such as heavy loads, and high traffic density in rainstorm weather. It is used for Road surface repairs,  Filling technical trenches, Sealing around light poles, manholes, etc.

Application Guideline

 

Watercon® is supplied in 20 kg plastic buckets with the following advantages:

  1. Mechanical properties equivalent to hot mix asphalt
  2. Immediate traffic reopening after construction
  3. Solvent-free
  4. Long storage life

 

Watercon® has been tested in a project by the Vietnam Road Department on the Ho Chi Minh Highway for emergency road surface repairs, showing the benefits of safety, simple application, durability, and suitability for emergency repairs in rainstorm conditions.

 

As a result, the Vietnam Road Administration has issued TCCS 33:2020/TCĐBVN, which specifies the construction and acceptance standards for water-reactive cold mix asphalt used for road surface repairs in stormy conditions. This provides a foundation for the widespread application of this technology in Vietnam
