Technical seminar on emulsion material technologies for economic, technical and environmentally friendly applications in road construction

On the morning of May 13th 2025, Asphalt Distribution Company Limited (ADCo) cooperated with Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) to organize a technical seminar on emulsion material technologies for economic, technical and environmental efficiency applications in road construction.

Picutre 1: Workshop Overview

This is an in-depth technical seminar, enhancing dialogue between material manufacturers, solution providers and design consultants, supervision consultants to develop effective and safe solutions for the transportation industry in Vietnam.

At the seminar, ADCo introduced EcoPrime® Cationic Emulsified Asphalt Prime (EAP) that meets TCVN 14270:2024 standard. This is a specially designed emulsion as a prime coat layer, replacing the traditional cutback MC-70, with deep penetration and fast curing to speed up construction progress, while being safe, environmentally friendly, and at a reasonable cost.

In addition, other emulsion material technologies in new construction and maintenance of pavements were also shared at the seminar, such as surface treatment (chipseal) technology using emulsion instead of hot bitumen, according to TCVN 9505:2012 with the advantages of safety, ease of construction, good adhesion quality, cost-effectiveness, suitable for new construction of frontage roads, parallel roads of highways, roads with moderate traffic density, access roads, rural traffic, etc. Besides, Microsurfacing technology according to TCVN 12316:2018 standard (applied in Vietnam since 2016), Cape Seals technology for preventive maintenance were also introduced in the seminar.

The seminar was very energetic with many discussions on the economics, technical efficiency, and conditions for wider application of these emulsion technologies in the future. In particular, the two sides also shared, introduced, and updated relevant national technical standards such as TCVN 14270:2024, TCVN 9505:2012, etc. to be able to apply in new design projects.

ADCo would like to sincerely thank the presence and valuable contributions of delegates from Departments, Centers, and affiliated companies of TEDI who contributed to the success of this meaningful technical seminar.

After the seminar, TEDI and ADCo will continue to coordinate to soon deploy the application of emulsion technologies and products for economic, technical and environmental efficiency in road traffic construction in Vietnam.
