ICSCE 2024 – The 5th International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering
On October 24th , 2024 in Hanoi, the University of Transport and Communications organized the 5th International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering. This is a large, prestigious international conference held every 2 years, gathering many leading scientists from France, Germany, Canada, China, Korea, Japan, etc.
Picture 1: Conference Overview
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long, President of the University of Transport and Communications, Vietnam is one of the countries that participated early in international conventions on sustainable development. “We are committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This demonstrates Vietnam's responsibility in the international community, especially with developing countries, to contribute to the sustainability of the region and the world” - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long emphasized.
In this trend, the Conference took place very timely and practically with diverse presentations in all fields from design, materials, solutions, management... These reports provide a comprehensive view of the latest advances in research and sustainable development.

Not only as a sponsor for the Conference, ADCo also actively exchanged, discussed, and contributed ideas with international presentations, with diversified topics on:
- Sustainable development of asphalt concrete pavement and Digital and Green transformation in the road construction industry in the US by Professor Tran Nam from the US Asphalt Technology Center (NCAT)
- Multi-recycling of bituminous mixtures in road structures by Professor Hervé Di Benedetto & Cédric Sauzéat from LYON University, France
- Determination of Equivalent Temperature for Asphalt Pavement Design in Vietnam by Dr. Le Xuan Quy, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Quang Phuc from UTC
- Presentations on the use of additives to improve asphalt concrete performance from professors and scientists at famous universities in Japan.

At the same time, to respond to and participate in the Sustainable Development Strategy of the transportation industry in particular and Vietnam in general, ADCo introduced at the Workshop environmentally friendly products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which have been used in Vietnam such as emulsions of EcoPrime® for prime coat, EcoGrip® for Microsurfacing maintenance technology, EcoStab® for cold-in-place recycling, and Cold Patch® for filling potholes, reinstating trenches and repairing small areas.
ICSCE 2024 is an important opportunity for scientists, engineers, and experts to exchange knowledge, address challenges in developing sustainable and environmentally friendly infrastructure, and contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
