Following sand-blasting of the steel deck, the application of a solvent-based bituminous primer helps to waterproof the steel plate and facilitate excellent bonding with the bituminous membrane that is later applied on top of it.

The use of a prefabricated elastomeric bituminous membrane allows a significant reduction in the stress coming from the plate while facilitating excellent bonding with the bituminous primer underneath and the asphalt surface course.
