Microsurfacing involves a mix of polymer-modified emulsion, well-graded crushed mineral aggregate, mineral filler (normally Portland cement), water, and chemical additives that control the break time. The aggregate, mineral filler, emulsion, and water are mixed in a truck-mounted traveling plant, which is deposited into a spreader box. No compaction is needed, and under normal environmental conditions, traffic may be allowed within an hour after placement with EcoGrip®, our polymer-modified emulsion specifically designed for microsurfacing applications. Because this is a chemical curing process, material selection and mix design are crucial. ADCo technical team would be more than happy to support all their customers with elaborating suitable mix design and adjusting EcoGrip® formulation to fit with their requirements.   EcoGrip® complies with National Standard TCVN 12316:2018.

Chip sealing is the application of a bituminous binder layer immediately followed by the application of an aggregate layer. The aggregate is then rolled upon to embed it into the binder. Multiple layers may be placed, and various binder and aggregate types can be used to address specific distress modes or traffic situations. However, we recommend only the double chip seal technique using high-viscosity polymer-modified emulsion, RapidBond® (CRS-1P). The main purpose of the double chip seal technique is to waterproof the surface, seal small- to medium-sized cracks, and improve surface friction. A double chip seal provides a slightly smoother surface than a single chip seal and is a good alternative for pavements in fair conditions.

The Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA) defines a fog seal as “a light spray application of low viscosity asphalt emulsion used primarily to seal an existing asphalt surface to reduce raveling and enrich dry and weathered surfaces”. Fog seals are used on both low and high-volume roads. Its primary use on high-volume roads is to prevent raveling of open-graded friction courses and to delineate between the mainline and the shoulder.
